Introduction
Many people think a drug is only what a sick person takes, but not every drug heals — some harm. π
Just like food can make or break the body, the way we use drugs can save or destroy a life. When used wrongly, a drug becomes a danger in disguise.
Meaning of Drug:
A drug is any substance taken to prevent, cure, or reduce sickness.
Meaning of Drug Abuse:
Drug abuse means taking drugs wrongly or without a doctor’s advice.
Examples of Abused Drugs:
Cigarettes
Alcohol
Indian hemp
Tramadol
Codeine
Cocaine
Effects of Drug Abuse:
1. Damage to the brain, liver, and heart.
2. Poor academic performance.
3. Misbehavior and violence.
4. Mental illness.
5. Addiction and loss of self-control.
Prevention of Drug Abuse:
1. Avoid friends who take drugs.
2. Take medicine only as prescribed by a doctor.
3. Stay busy with positive hobbies.
4. Obey parents, teachers, and religious rules.
Moral / Islamic Connection π:
Allah forbids anything that harms the body or mind. The Prophet (S.A.W) said:
“Whatever intoxicates in large quantities, a small quantity of it is also forbidden.” – Hadith
